Chongqing University is one of the universities in China
that started higher science education at an early stage.
In 1929, the university established Science School as
one of the six primal schools of the university, and under

Mathematics and Applied Physics, and reconstructed the
Department of Applied Mathematics and the Department of
Applied Physics. To prepare for the university's
development into a first class comprehensive research
university with international reputation, a new Science

re-established in 1998 on the basis of the Department of
Applied Mathematics and the Department of Applied
Physics. After the merger of Chongqing Jianzhu
