The multivariate splines, as piecewise polynomials, have been become useful tools for dealing with Computational Geometry, Computer Graphics, Computer Aided Geometric Design and Image Processing.
In Algebraic Geometry, the classical algebraic variety is to study geometric properties of the common intersection of surfaces represented by multivariate polynomials. Since the surfaces are usually represented by multivariate piecewise polynomials (multivariate splines), so the piecewise algebraic variety, defined by the common intersection of surfaces represented by multivariate splines is important in Computational Geometry, Computer Graphics, Computer Aided Geometric Design, and Image Processing.
The purpose of this talk is to introduce some recent progress on Multivariate splines, Piecewise algebraic variety and some of relative topics.
