The curvature properties in Finsler geometry

In this talk, we introduce some important geometric quantities and their meanings in Finsler geometry. These geometric quantities play very important roles in Finsler geometry. In particular, we study a special and important class of Finsler metrics, called (a,b)-metrics, which are defined by F=a f(b/a) , where a is a Riemannian metric and b is a 1-form. We characterize Einstein (a,b)-metrics and show that, if f=f(s) is a polynomial in s, the (a,b)-metrics F=a f(b/a) is Einstein if and only if it is Ricci-flat. Further, we characterize and classify Ricci-flat Douglas (a,b)-metrics.
